Indian Boy Good for You
Shanti and her husband( my friends from the Tiffin place they owned) had such a beautiful, healthy relationship. It is always refreshing when traveling to see these power couples who are good people AND a good couple. A power couple for me does not mean just two people having successful careers, a big house, and a Mercedes.
It means so many things that are the opposite of that and highlight traits like respect, kindness, companionship, likeability, reaching goals, religion, and serving others, laughter, love, and happiness with small moments.
Shanthi says why don’t you date an Indian boy. They can take good care of you.
“What are you looking for.. She asks…”
That list used to be longer, but now it has narrowed down to some important main traits.
“I want someone like what you both have. This humor, fun loving nature, and you are both Christians(I say this in my broken English travel voice). Someone Christian, motivated, intelligent, funny, kind, secure, adventurous, travels, laughs, and loves life….I continued on and realized it was a long list.
She says you need to pray. “Every day you need to pray to God for a partner.”
I was told this about 15 years ago from my friend Renee. My beautiful, intelligent, kind, lovely friend. She prayed for the perfect partner every single night before she went to sleep and a few years later she found him…a successful doctor, a great family man, and they made the perfect power couple.
I said this is definitely something I rarely pray for as I always put others ahead of myself to pray for and it feels selfish to pray for myself to meet someone. Isn’t that up to God?
She says, “You must, it is not a choice… you must Priscilla.”
We sat there in the middle of the kitchen and I was just sitting on a bucket while she was cutting onions. These moments with locals I wish these memories could be recorded and last forever in my mind.
It is so kind the way people treat me when I am traveling like I am their own child.
Unfortunately, I never have this feeling from any family member I have ever-the locals are my family and it might be temporary, but new ones always resurface in a new time, a new place or a new country….
