Educational Ubers

The driver was just 23 years old. As we were going in and out of traffic with his Ola bike. He was having a full stimulating conversation about religion, marriage, Indian customs, and his opinion of foreigners. He said many foreigners are coming to India to seek some spirituality. You can’t have a God help you, you need to help yourself.

He said he is very disappointed with all the divorce and it makes him not want to get married.

He is so wise for being just 23. He says he loves American music and starts playing Justin Bieber on his bike stereo, which is not common to see people play music on their moto. We are in the middle of a crazy traffic jam and he is talking about life

Immediately when I got onto the bike he said “you are half Indian huh” It is very rare that someone just guesses this without me telling them. But when I am IN India and someone guesses I am Indian….oh they become my new best friend IMMEDIATELY. It is the best feeling when people tell you what you truly are, which is INDIAN-half, but who is counting.

He talked about Andrew Tate and the matrix. I would like to highlight this is like 72 hours of being in India. He does not want to live inside a box, but he wants to live outside the culture that was given to him in India. He does not want to get married, have children, and buy them property. He wants to challenge himself to learn, educate himself, and achieve his personal goals. It is so refreshing to be back in India and talk to those people that are just making a living, but they have a big heart and passion to learn.

Second Moto

He drove me to one location, but I wanted him to drive me to a second so he turned off his phone for any new ride notifications and then came back to pick me up.

He was another wise one, just 26 years old, who also did not want to get married-very similar moto drivers just in one night. He works 16 hours a day and he wants to create a Youtube channel with travel blogging. He would like to buy a new camera, which he said is very expensive. He will start traveling in India and then hopefully he can go to another country. This beautiful innocence and sweet personality that Indians have is just priceless. He wants to work hard and achieve better things in his life. He said that he had a girlfriend, but she was not the one for him. He would only settle down if he found the one person who he can love forever.

The most important truth of both these rides is: the guest is gold. He said that Indians treat people as the guest, which I always try to educate others on how well India treats people. He said that Indian women own so much gold that it could take over a whole countries GDP. He does not feel that people need to have so much to make them happy rather they should be content with the smaller things. He was very sweet and kind and offered to take me on small trips around the city.

“Just call if you need me friend.”

“Thanks friend.”

I had plenty of friends to go sightseeing with, but his gesture was so kind and it just shows how beautiful India treats THE GUEST.  Lovely just driving around the city at night when it is quite and there is a beautiful breeze( not hot) just the perfect temperature. The first couples days were definitely some culture shock being back in the madness of India that I love so dearly,  but then I settled into the country that is part of my heritage and heart.
