Woke up to a Wedding

I woke up with the sun shining through the thinly lined curtain and I could hear the temple bells below me. As I went to get up, I immediately laid back down because I felt very faint and nauseous. It was not anything related to food, but it felt like a flu with typical symptoms of a fever, nausea, and absolute exhaustion. I was staying alone in my friend's second property and he would come by on occasion and we would go out together-not today friend. I texted him that I was not feeling well and expressed my love for weddings, but my disappointment with all the noise. He failed to mention his house was across from a wedding hall, which I did not think would be happening on a Tuesday, but this is India and weddings happen all year long especially in November and December. The sign was up and it was official- it was the wedding of Kumar and Marjay.

While I really just needed to rest, they started their celebration in the temple very early and it continued on for the rest of the day. Every time I would close my eyes, I would just wake up to a drum, chanting, or people talking. I managed to sleep most of the day and I would take a walk out to the balcony and watch them below me. I could not just totally ignore a wedding going on below me so I did inside the window watching the wedding rituals. The terrace wrapped around the apartment and was directly across from the top of the temple. I was close to the moon, close to God, and high above to see all the families dressed up so beautifully for the festivities. This went on for 48 hours until Tuesday at about 6pm and I was sick for that whole 48 hours going until about hour 72 when I finally started getting my pep back in my step lol

Whenever I am sick and traveling, I usually sleep it off with an Alkaseltzer tablet, Sprite, and plain crackers and lemon/ginger tea, but there was no way I could make it to the store. So my friend offered to come over with some sick person essentials and while I told him, "Don't worry. I will be fine." He insisted on coming over after work..."the heart of India....."

He had stopped at the nearby pharmacy(with the guy who knows me Ravi with the big beard and big belly). He got me some Paracetemol, idly(from the local shop), crackers, and a big Aquafina water. When you are sick and you are alone and someone helps you out, it is the best feeling and the gratitude them is huge. I did manage to order some some Chinese chicken soup on Zomato and that was fantastic the first time... second time not so much.

Sleep, wedding watching, soup, Netflix, more sleep, until I recovered and was back in healthy Indian spirits.
