Fall Down and Get Back UP

On my way to Candolim beach by one bus and the conductor was nice helping to show me each stop and where I should get off the bus. He told me last minute that the stop ahead was my stop so I got up quickly and I stepped down 3 steps and jumped onto the curb…which would be fine normally, but this skirt was tight at the bottom and not elastic.  I went crashing down into the sidewalk and all I remember that is right when I fell down there were like 5 Indians to help get me up….. it happened so quickly, but I could not believe how many people helped me at that one moment I fell….how did these people even get here that quickly…it was astonishing and it answers the question why I always feel safe in India….Example number 101

The security guard had me sit down on the side and gave me some water. He was telling me to flex my arm as I fell mostly right on top of my arm. He was really concerned and gave me his chair to sit down in and said to go to pharmacy for bandage, but for now, "Take rest. Take rest." Example number 102

After my big fall, I was in Candolim Beach area and decided to go looking for fish thali and I finally found a great place. It was literally a blessing because they made everything hot and fresh as I requested. It was such a dream…I gave a 100 rupee tip because I have to reward people when they listen. It took them a really long time and I knew that is because it was coming fresh and that is the only way I will eat….

I stopped by a store to get a Diet coke and the guy did not have change. He said I take 20 rupees and you enjoy your diet coke.

I told him, "Thank you so much I am really having a bad day."

I fell off the bus and I showed him my arm. He shouted, “Beta get the First aid” His daughter rushed to the front and opened up a plastic container full of Detol band aids.

I was just going to take one and he said, “She will fix it for you.”

She opened up the box, washed it with an alcohol swab, and put the band aid perfectly over the cut and smiled at me.

"Feel better."

The lady who saw I was trying to get sand off my back and she sat and she wiped off each small bit of sand off my back on the beach....Thank you to these people...the true heart of India.

The beach walk was definitely peaceful and I felt the beach breeze with my feet in the sand. It was definitely calmer and less crowded than other beaches. ]It seemed like the sun was depressed. It would just pop its head out, but the clouds were surrounding it constantly and the sky was dreary. It was a very mellow day on the beach, but the water was just beautiful. I really loved this beach and for some reason I just knew I would like it…

While there were many things to do at night, it was definitely time for me to head home and perhaps I missed that sign to go home hours ago as it just was not my day-God was telling me to just go home.

And with every bad day….God sends angels and he ends it reminding me

“Smile it’s Christmas and look you have nice people here to spend time with. Stay where you are and enjoy with these people.”

It was like 7:45pm and I knew that it was definitely time to just call it a night so I caught another bus to Porovim. I have really had such a peaceful experience on the bus, but it is these women who speak up that really trigger me as they are so oblivious to their own self and behavior. Wake up. Do you hear yourself talking?

I got off on the bus stand where the my fruit guy friend is and I walked back to my place. I stopped to get a chocolate cupcake at the new café that just opened a few days ago.. Cupcake was surprisingly amazing, but it still did nothing for my mood. Just nothing. I walked back to the place and in the street I heard singing. Right around the corner they were singing  a Christmas carol. Santa was there with a few families all wearing Christmas hats. Everyone was so kind and welcoming and said, “Merry Christmas.” They said they have been doing Christmas carols for 3 nights where they go and sing at each person’s house. They were all just filled with Christmas joy. I literally just caught them on the last song before they were about t o leave to their last location of the night…

Divine timing….

They invited me to come to their church for Christmas eve and day and said they have many Christmas programs.

Literally, I was just thinking about Should I stay in Goa or go to Kerala? My gut tells me, “Do not move.” Stay where you are right now.

Maybe that was my sign to stay….

Another sign… I was looking at a New air bnb and I accidentally hit confirm and booked it-an apartment in Goa.

Perhaps another sign to stay….If I am not in the Christmas spirits-is going to another city going to help change that….a bunch of expats having a party? I mean I do not know what that is going to do for me if everyday I wake up and I feel like just going back to sleep…

Santa went off on his motorcycle and they all loaded up in a van…so happy so beautiful… and I just was just not in the Christmas spirit. A day in the life of Scrooge…I would rather be jolly Mrs. Claus….lets hope that is the case tomorrow and I can also stay on my feet.
