Come Work With Us Chalo
In India, one of the NGO’s I was working with offered me a fulltime job. It was not an organized job offer rather it was like a “Can you start working now and we can figure out the rest later?”
It was a great place to work and everyone made it such a welcoming environment and highlighted that I would be a major asset to the team. It was just something that was recommended to me by a friend who ended up making this connection between the Director and myself.
It was basically a job to take over a major lead position as the one lady was retiring, but it was difficult for me to act that quickly.
Did I want to start working right now in February? Did I want to explore other options/opportunities?
They wanted me to start working at the end of the month and start the visa process immediately and I had 48 hours to make a decision as other candidates were waiting....many candidates.
It was one of those moments that a job applicant always wants: the connection. You meet someone who recommends you highly for a great position and that is your foot in the door to a great job.
It is not an application where you get a response and then have to go through a round of interviews with three different people. It was just a straight forward offer where she knew I was highly qualified and she wanted me to take the job....and what was my response?
The girl who wants to live in Bangalore, but not right now and wants to properly get an OCI, which was an uphill battle with my delinquent father.
Unfortunately, I had to politefully decline as I did not want to take time from other applicants who were seriously interested. It was the right thing to do at that time, but if that opportunity came in 2017 when I wanted to settle down in India and I was dedicated to finding a place and getting a job-I would have 100 percent said YES.
Timing is really everything not just in traveling, but in life.....
