Anjuna Beach? Sure Why Not

It was a short walk to a decent accommodation in the center where I could then freshen up and just relax…. The girl at Mandala was super welcoming and told me there was a live music event for the sundown. They call it “Sundowner. “If you go freshen up quick, I am sure you could make it there by sunset.” She was right as I was able to make it out for sunset and it was stunning-really something special about Indian sunsets. I went to the touristy, but adorable spot playing Latin music and serving Sangria- I mean really who can pass up this Instagram worthy spot with the cutest places to sit and it felt like India meets Spain. After the heat, the walking, the bus, and the walking- I was treating myself to a 500 rupee glass of Sangria and boy was it worth it. The one girl got the Red and I got the white. It was like nothing I ever had with pomegranate seeds, cinnamon, honey, oranges, and I think some Tarragon?

It was worth every penny and the sunset was perfect with a nice couple I sat and talked with for sometimeThe more I walked down the beach, the more I realized that I really liked this place. The only thing that was annoying were the North Indians taking a million photos and they obviously have their tantrums when they do not get what they want, the rude obnoxious behavior, the sense of entitlement, and judgement-but hey that is some NOT all….ok most of the people on Anjuna Beach-yeah.

I am seeing that there are so many cute, upscale spots to drink and eat. I am hearing some great music and DJs. I am realizing that this place is definitely my vibe. The wait staff are shouting, “Madam, come drink, come eat, come sit.”

God bless them as I know they are trying to get business to feed their families, but I still sometimes get annoyed at times. Most of them are really sweet they way they ask. They are really desperate for business as the tourism season is not as busy as usual due to a few factors-some locals say the war in Israel, Russian war, and politics/government disappointing impact on tourism.

It is sad for the local Goan people, but they are resilient just like all the beautiful non-entitled Indians. I found my perfect upscale spot at Pisco, which was definitely the happening place with the perfect candlelight solo fish dinner and the perfect waiter. The ladies around me were all dancing and I was just sitting enjoying the great DJ and watching the waves-this is the moment you would want to be with a group or a boyfriend and not eating alone on a beach, but this moment I was perfectly content and was not craving a partner. There was some cover fee for Pisco(waived) and for Purple Martini(waived) totally my scene. If I have to pay a cover, I really start turning on the charm because for a solo budget traveler-covers are a hard NO.

At Purple Martini, I thought I would just be sitting at the bar, but they had a 4 top table for me. I felt bad taking up all that space and within minutes I was at the oceanfront table, which was suppose to be 1500 cover. There was a birthday and the staff had all the sparklers going…oh it was not a birthday it was just a regular thing lol many people were up and dancing.

I walked back down the beach and a big wave came up and crashed down leaving me wet and full of sand…. I had no worry at all because I was just enjoying myself so much…..and I had a mocktail all night-that was it.

I drank in my 20s and I lived in my 30s with the same energy and a glass of wine

I was walking and talking to everyone, enjoying some Bollywood music and swinging away like I was a 10 year old on a big swing.  I felt alive and just felt joy and I went back to my room where it was peaceful and quiet(nights that are good vibes are reasons for travel).
