In the Jungle

Going from a city up 2,000 meters to a hill station definitely  does something to the sinuses. I was woken up at 9:30 am by the neighbor with Rasheed on the phone asking if I want breakfast. I think I was literally sleepwalking … I said, “No, I’m fine. Thank you. I went to sleep and woke up at 3pm because my sinuses were so bad Manju came over and he asked if I had eaten anything. I had no phone signal, which was good because I wanted to do a Phone Detox. He gave me the phone and Racheed said, "The neighbor is going to make you some food just give her some money." I was absolutely thrilled because that meant "super homemade food from the source." I took my shower with a bucket and cool water…Something about the bucket showers just hit different… I was about to fall back asleep after my shower and heard kids shouting outside. It was the neighbor walking down the hill to my door with her two kids carrying a big pot of homemade dhal with chapati..heaven! She...

To the Village We Go

Rashid was someone I met through another friend in Kerala and he invited me to visit Wayanad, which is the biggest tourist destination in India and pretty much like a slice of heaven. It is a place I would retired and buy a house, but I think a lot of people have that same idea. He picked me up in his AC car with a water bottle, which was so refreshing because it was so hot that day, but the views were so beautiful. We started our drive to his farm house, which was near to many nice hotels and villas. We went to a hotel for lunch, had fish curry…omg perfect fish curry, rice, and chapati ....he was really nice company as we had a lot of talk about…he was a very opinionated Muslim guy, but very educated and aware of his words. He had his construction business, a house, a second house, a car, a bike, 3 girls…everything seemed to be lined up for him…   He expressed his uttermost love for his family, but quickly changed the subject saying he had one good daughter and one bad. "We...

Swami G and Us

Sharda and I wanted to take Little Miss India to see the birds and boy there were birds! I had no idea on how many different types were in this one place. Swami G was really impressive with his ashram there and his name was on everything whether it was a glass stone, a book, a stamp, a crystal…this man was so peaceful and so amazing creating all kinds of Guiness book world records for the most stamps and the most Bonsai trees in the world. It was really so impressive and such a peaceful place. The birds were mostly from South America some living for 50 to 100 years, from Mexico, parrots and malocas of all different colors . You just walk and hear birds surrounding you and look at them from cage to cage.. Gaya was so cute going from cage to cage trying to talk to every bird. There ended up being a few birds that talked and she was just so happy…She had wanted to visit this bird park for almost 4 months so I was really happy we went together. I paid for a few things for all of us...

Rose, I love you!

As I was walking, there is a bike that appears he says , “ Hello”…   Another guy appears again and says, “Hello.”   I sit here thinking to myself, “Who are all these guys saying “hello.”    Finally, when I see him for the third time I realize it is the same person as he is wearing a blue athletic shirt and jeans ...He was following me on the bike riding very slowly but approaching at different times lol     He sa id , “I love you.” And then I continue to walk away…   He sa id , “Yoga, I see you Gokulam.” Yoga class.   I sa id , “No, I do not do yoga.” He says he is a yoga instructor and I know that he wants to keep talking so he gives me a ride back to his place. We are biking around and he is one of those “shining happy people.” Anything could happen in life and he would always handle it with a smile.    He kept calling me “Rose.”   I did not even bother telling him my name as he was so set on calling me Rose. ...
